COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BROWNING AND SEASONING SAUCE
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. SCOPE.
1.1 This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers browning and seasoning sauce, packed in commercially acceptable containers, suitable for use by the Federal Government.
2. CLASSIFICATION.
2.1 The browning and seasoning sauce shall conform to the following types which shall be specified, as required in the solicitation, contract or purchase order.
Types.
Type I- Without hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP)
Type II- With HVP
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Use: The ready-to-use sauce may be used to accelerate browning of meats and poultry during cooking, and to enhance the color (browning) and flavor of gravies, sauces, stews, soups, and casseroles.
